Is there a specific type of water you are targeting(slow/fast, deep/shallow)? I tried to find some current seams and slower water to fish around mckays bend, just up from Gibbs. Didn’t really find what I was looking for, like I did in fall

Kyle, thank you so much for putting this tutorial together as well as your regular reports. I tried my hand years ago at steelheading on the South and upper Main Fork. Went in with the idea of fly fishing and due to the high water learned quick that I wasn't going to be successful and had to pivot to casting spinning gear with limited tackle (turning bottom bouncers into drift rigs and flies into yarn balls). I received a crash course from a couple nice local guys and my wife was able to land one fish. It was frustrating enough that it's kept me away for years. However, your updates and knowledge sharing allowed us to be successful at Brewster last year with our boat where we caught some beautiful sockeye, and we caught our first wild chinook. It made the transition from downrigger fishing to lead ball flasher/dodger rigs much easier. Now I have the itch to make the drive from Western Montana and try my hand at these beautiful salmon from shore and hopefully steelhead later in the year, and once again I feel like I have a great starting point when heading that direction. Hoping the quota lasts long enough for me to get over there in early June, but I'm skeptical.

Hows the trophy trout fishery in the blackfoot section of the snake doing? Herd over the last year or 2 its starting go a little downhill

Watch what you eat. Older, larger Columbia river walleye can be a bit dangerous to eat. Cominco Mines in Trail, British Columbia is one major culprit. They have been dumping tailings directly into the river for decades. That may have stopped more recently? The Spokane river mouth at the Columbia has fish consumer restrictions? Water from the Spokane river is full of heavy metals from Lake Coeurd'Alene and the Coeurd'Alene river system. Unfortunately the decades old mining laws allow way too much pollution to enter our waters.
